celebrations and globe trotterings

Before, when I was still together with Gregoire, late September and October was always a time of celebrations. We had an anniversary at the end of September and both our birthdays in the middle of October. All that made the first cold days of autumn less painfull and brought some candle lit joy to the countdown towards winter.

Last year I had a pretty depressing lonely birthday, but it was really how most of the year had passed. But this time, following a year of generally higher spirits, I got to start off my 29th trip around the sun with a great night with good food, good music, cake with candles, shampagne and just the right amount of drinks. And some of the lovelies people I know in London. I've never had a cake carried out for me at a restaurant before. And never even imagined drinking shampagne (or bubly wine...) from tall glasses at a East- London gig venue. Wouldn't want neither on a regular basis, but I think everybody should have a cake carried for them at least once in their lifetime. Too bad I don't have photos...

And on top of everything I received the greatest parcel ever from Johanna (althoug the fact that it arrived on the day after my birtday was a pure coincidence. That kinda makes it even greater...) with scarf in the perfect shade of red, some patterns, buttons, patches and pins and a little buddha. And a giant microbe. Like she said "what to give a girl who likes to travel light? A virus!"

And then.... I'm going to Berlin tomorrow! I can't wait. I've never done this much research or planning for a trip and am very very exited. It worries me a little bacause i might

A. be disappointed. I've never had much expectations about any place that I've visited and, as a result, have never been let down. Or

B. Want to live there. What if it's all that I think it will be and I won't want to leave? Don't know if I have it in me to move to a country and start learning a language and start everything from scratch again though. When I did that in France and in Spain I was young and in love and didn't know how nice it is to have a regular paycheck that actually covers rent and food and a few new clothes and gigs and holidays every once in a while too....

've started to gather moss.

moss is pretty hard to transport with a little foresight. my cousin henri just moved to berlin so maybe he would have an idea if finnish would come in handy there or not.

berlin's a nice feeling city, it reminds me of a utopic helsinki (although i think i still prefer helsinki of the two). i'm really interested to hear where you go, what you do and what you think!
are you going with anyone or solo?
bon voyage!

climb walls, have loads of flatmates, cry at weddings, miss my family, like coffee (but get a bit hyper from caffeine), love music, miss winter, speak spanish, like flowers...
